Are you aware of the fact that hearts disease is one of the health conditions that kill people most? It is our responsibility to keep our heart in good shape through what we eat and our lifestyle. Here are five tips that will enable you to maintain a properly functioning heart:

Consume a heart-healthy diet

To keep your heart in good repair, you must stick to a food plan that will not pose a danger to your heart. You should avoid eating processed carbs, unique animal products, and sugar. You should also cut out toxic fats such as trans fat and GMO vegetable oil. Instead, go for foods that support a healthy heart. Examples of such foods are berries and organic vegetables, avocados, olive oils, animal products, wild caught seafood, nuts, and seeds.

Move your body daily

There are lots of benefits associated with the movement of your body regularly. It is essential for our overall health. Sadly, many are not moving their body enough. Exercising yourself does not require much effort; it can be as simple as taking the stairs instead of using an elevator, talking a short walk after your meal, and walking to a nearby grocery store instead of taking your car. These suggestions will help towards boosting the overall health and minimize the postprandial blood sugar spike especially when you go for a walk after a meal.

Maintain a good oral hygiene

Are you aware that there's a link between diseases of the mouth and heart disease? It is therefore essential to maintain good dental health as it is vital to the condition of the heart as well as the overall wellbeing of the body. On this note, you brush and floss daily with a natural product that is not harmful to your health and maintain good oral hygiene to keep your heart in good condition.

Sleep adequately

Sleep is critical as it is a way of refreshing the body. Lack of adequate sleep can trigger insulin resistance, stress, and inflammation. These are some of the risk factors for heart diseases. Therefore, you should aim at getting about 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily.

Look after your mental health

People who are depressed have higher chances of developing heart problems because they are socially isolated and are always bothered with one issue or the other. Speak to your doctor if you feel depressed for more than two weeks. Having a good social life as well as friends and family willing to help goes a long way in this kind of situation.
